This reporting obligation has been created for technical reasons. It identifies the deliveries of national spatial data sets under the MSFD reporting on Article 4 (geographic areas). Member States shall, when implementing their obligations under this Directive, take due account of the fact that their marine waters form an integral part of the marine regions and subregions, and they shall inform the Commission of any subdivisions of those.
